Currently the two reality TV shows I’ve been watching on Netflix is Love is Blind and The Ultimatum.

The concept of these shows are pretty interesting.

For Love is Blind there are 15 men and 15 women that are located in the same area hoping to find love. They date through these pods (kind of like speed dating taken on to a different level), they can talk to each other, but cannot see each other. If they get engaged, they get to meet face-to-face for the first time and continue their relationship on a honey moon, move in with one another, meet each others family/friends and they are to be married by the end of the season. If they say “I do”, they will be happily married. Or if they don’t, they will part ways. Which they will have to reflect if love is truly blind.

For The Ultimatum six couples that have decided to put their relationship on the line for various reasons (not agreeing on marriage OR kids, not doing enough/no progress in the relationship and etc). They are given the chance to date other people for a few weeks; and then must decide if they want to marry the person they came on the show with, or leave them for the new person they just started seeing. While on the journey of dating other people, they are to take the opportunity to figure out who they are as a person and who is better suited for them.

It’s news to me that a lot of reality television is scripted, to be honest I thought the fact it’s “reality” TV should be more real. For these two shows in particular, they are not scripted and the emotions are more genuine and raw.

Have you watched any of these shows yet? If so, who are your favourite couples (include from what season). I’d love to open up a discussion about this.
