Tea Talk Tuesday #4

Today I am having Frosted Cereal Fruit infusion tea. This is my second mug today of the same tea, it’s honestly really yummy.

Ingredients: apple, carrots, bean peels, gluten free oats, marshmallows, coconut, gluten free cornflakes, raisins, goji berries, quinoa, vanilla, stevia extract, natural vanilla and cream flavouring.

This tea was purchased from David’s Tea, it already tastes a bit on the sweet side on its own so I can drink it black.

Todays tea talk discussion is going to be more based on how it feels like to be a Woman these days. Being a Woman is honestly not a terrible thing, but here are the hard parts of Woman-hood.

  1. We cannot walk around outside alone without getting some sort of unwanted attention from guys. And even when you clearly show you don’t want the attention, people still give it to you. Example: the other day all I was doing was pulling stuff out of my thermal since I was dropping my friend off I needed to give her her things. Some guy was driving past me and felt it was necessary to say “nice ass” and wink. To be honest… I don’t like these kinds of comments, just simply drive past me and just don’t say anything to me. We’re also told to carry pepper spray around with us OR to purposely avoid certain areas OR buddy up when we’re walking. If this doesn’t tell you how unsafe it is to be a Woman, then I don’t know what will.
  2. Pink tax. I’m happy that Canada no longer charges taxes on pads. But the price of birth control pills, pads, pregnancy tests, Women’s hygiene products and clothes are so much more expensive in comparison to items guys can get.
  3. We are more likely getting taken advantage of when it comes to car maintenance. If we go in for one service, magically they find so many other problems that weren’t there before. OR if both genders went in for the same maintenance, the Woman has to pay more to get the same job done.
  4. Sometimes we can’t speak up for how we feel or if we get too angry it must be our “PMS” talking.
  5. Till this day Women are expected to do more work than a man does, and still gets paid less.
  6. Older Women generations are still trying to raise their kids OR give remarks to Women from younger generations to show that the Woman is expected to do all the house work. I’m also constantly told that they don’t know how I’ll be able to manage having kids in the future because I find it difficult to already balance work, cooking, working out and cleaning.

These are only a few things, and there are still so much more that are not being talked about. You’d think in 2021 Women would be more respected and be treated more as equals. But, unfortunately… that is not the case.

As a Woman, have you ever come across a time where you felt that something was unfair? Have you ever felt that you were treated differently just because you were a female?

Motivational Monday #4

I don’t know who else needs to read this quote…

But I know it’s definitely something I need to work on.

Usually I’m a night owl, I can probably stay up till 2:30-3am catching up on things. But then I NEVER get enough sleep, and it just becomes one big vicious cycle.

I’ve been trying to motivate myself to go to sleep earlier, and wake up earlier.. this way I can be more productive and feel more energized in the morning. It’s a big work in progress and there is way too much room for improvements. But, I will get there, and I know you will too.

Self Care Sunday #3

We need to constantly remind ourselves that we need to take care of ourselves. We are a priority and should never take ourselves for granted.

Here are my top 10 things that helps me reset and feel better.

1) Listening to music: This is even better when you can let loose and dance or sing a bit. Sing from the top of your lungs, dance like no one is watching you. Just be wild for a bit.

2) Reading a book: Just the small escape from reality helps. It stops you from thinking too much about current problems and it allows you to keep the imagination flowing.

3) Working out/walking: I’ve noticed ever since I’ve been exercising more it has made me more physically healthier and overall a little happier. Sweat it out, it gives you that sense of relief and you put all that built up negative energy into something that would overall benefit you. Even just a simple walk and surround yourself with nature.

4) Writing: In this case, blogging has made me happier. You can keep a journal and just write all your emotions out. Have a jar of all the things that made you feel accomplished throughout the year. Keep a gratitude journal. Maybe be a little more creative and write poetry or a novel.

5) Hugs: Just overall hug a friend, a family member, your spouse, a pet, a pillow. Anything. I know with COVID I’m sure we’ve all been a lot less affectionate, but we’re humans and affection is know to make people happier.

6) Cleaning/declutter: I’m actually surprised about this one. Lets face it.. who actually likes cleaning? I’m sure not many people do and its such a chore. But I don’t know about you.. but when things are organized and clean, I feel a huge sign of accomplishment and relief. Sometimes even just seeing things really disorganized is enough to make me feel stress.

7) Hobbies: For me its painting and diamond art. Sometimes I also like playing video games. We need to give us some sort of time to unwind.

8) Dates: Either it be a date with a significant other, a family member, a friend or even by yourself. Go do something you really want to do.

9) Skincare and physical health: I’m honestly terrible for not taking my supplements as often as I should; but when I do remember to take them… I feel great and energized. I also feel good about myself when I take the time to take care of my skin.. cleanse/moisturize/exfoliate/shave. Take care of your nails and give it a fresh coat of paint. Do a spa night. Eat good food. It’s all a part of making yourself feel good. Its okay to treat yourself to a greasy burger or slice of pizza… but don’t over do the bad comfort foods.. although it helps you feel mentally better (or so you think it is), it is doing more harm to your body than good.

10) Shows/movies: Honestly just sitting back and watching a movie or show you really want to is an amazing feeling too. Don’t depend the screens too often, but in moderation is good. Feel sad? Watch a comedy. Watch something that you know will make you feel happy.

Bonus: While doing 90% of the stuff above, I usually have some sort of drink in hand. Water, tea, hot chocolate, coffee or a glass of wine.

Wild Wednesday #3 featuring OLOA part 1!

Today I was determined to get my 10,000 steps in. So I went for a long walk with my mom. We ended up going to this small trail in Malton and it brought back so many memories.

Where this trail now stands, it used to be a school called Our Lady of the Airways. It was my very first school from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 5. I most likely would’ve graduated from there if it wasn’t for the school shutting down.

The parking lot was fairly big, and there were two different entrances to get into the building from the front. One door was closer to the Kindergarten classes and the other door was the entrance near the office.

There was a hill on the side of the school with maybe three or four big tires. For someone so little, the hill of course seemed so big in comparison to an adult. Hop scotch painted on the pavement and another two doors on the side of the building, one to let you into the Kindergarten class and another into the gym.

When you go around to the back of the building there was a nice field with soccer nets. Other game like activities painted on the pavement, but that part of the memory seems pretty foggy. There was another door to get into the building, I remember there being steps to get to the back stage of the gym when you entered those doors.

A little further down the property there was a basketball court and more field with a park in the middle and a baseball diamond much further down the field. On the building itself closest to the park was another entrance into the building for the older grades.

When you walk down the rest of the pavement there are more doors, those are all from classrooms, there were actually a decent amount of classes that had a separate door. On that same side was a little path with a huge tire. If you keep walking down the pavement you will find yourself back to the front of the school.

I really wanted to share some photos of what the school used to be like, but unfortunately couldn’t find any… almost like the school never existed.

Stay tuned to next Wednesday to hear about my memories of Our Lady of the Airways.

Tea Talk Tuesday #3

Hello all and welcome to my Tea Talk Tuesday, today I am having Just Beet It iced tea, I originally purchased it from David’s Tea. It is honestly better than I expected, I did not add any sweetener to it, so it just has the natural flavours of the tea itself.

Ingredients are: apple, raisins, hibiscus blossoms, beetroot, elderberries, carrot, green mate, goji berries, aronia berries, blackberries, red currants, guarana seeds, raspberries, cornflower blossoms, natural and artificial wildberry flavouring.

A thought that has been on my mind most recently is how cool it would be for me to create my own tea blends. But with the amount of tea’s I currently have in my cupboard, I should probably finish those up before I consider getting myself even more, but I am definitely making note of tea’s I find myself enjoying more so I can play around with some of the ingredients.

For the longest time, I have had the desire to have my own business, where it could be a used book store/café. How fun it would be to create my own menu for the café and mix the love I have for baked goods, teas, lattes and books! However, where I am from there is way too much competition over here and books are slowly dying down, as a lot of people these days prefer to go electronic, and even then, there are not too many people I know personally that even enjoy reading books in general. On top of that, to choose between eventually needing money to start a family and own a house is more of a priority than owning my own business. Which everything feels so out of reach considering the housing market keeps going up.

Although, there are times I also imagine that eventually when we can own our own place, there might even be a slim chance that I can some how have best of both worlds and still have the business I want, but only time will tell.

I have also been eyeing those cute little free libraries that people put on their front lawns, and that is something I would eventually hope to do also, that alone can probably make the bookish part of me satisfied and happy. I have not yet seen one in person, but quite a few people I know have been posting about them on Instagram and I seriously want to try to locate one this Summer.

On another note, my candle obsession is growing, today I was burning Charmed Aroma’s Cookies & Cream scented candle and it smells AMAZING! In a separate blog post this week I will reveal the surprise piece of jewllery that comes inside. It has been another hobby I have considered for a few years now to try to create my own scented candles and line of skin care (lotions, scrubs and bath bombs mostly).

I have always have been the kind of person that has so many thoughts and ideas, but when it comes to putting it into action, it becomes so difficult because of the amount of stuff I want to do and accomplish.

Honestly feel like it is never ending between what I wish and want to accomplish verses stuff I have to do on a day-to-day life.

Which this post in general made me realize why I always feel so stuck and far from accomplished… because there is simply too much I want to do and I can’t just focus on one.

^ It truly is….

Motivational Monday #3

Words that are easier said than done.

In a world where there is so much hate.

A place where we’re all being judged and criticized for every little thing we do.

Having someone constantly breathing down our necks to tell us we’re doing things wrong and that we just don’t know how it is all done.

It starts making us feel like we’re just not good enough or makes us wonder if we’ll ever succeed in life.

That is when you need to stand tall, take a deep breath and let in those positive vibes, just to let out all that negative feeling.

Allow yourself to start with a fresh clear mind, this will help you see more clearly for a brighter future.

Fashion Friday #2 — Dresses with Pockets

For this weeks blog about fashion, I’m going to talk about pockets. Specifically dresses with pockets.

I have been saying for YEARS how I hate that a lot of Women’s clothing doesn’t have any pockets, or if there are pockets they are too small to fit anything useful. For a long time now, I have wished and hoped that pockets for Women will become a little more normalized and always thought it’d be cool if dresses had pockets.

Well… that time has come! I think it was last year I started getting incredibly happy about new things releasing with pockets, and not fake pockets nor were they pitty small pockets. They were pockets large enough to put my hefty key ring in (I have A LOT of keychains 😂) or even my cell phone, which these days a lot of them are also quite large.

The pictures below are items from a Canadian company called She’s Got Leggz. They primarily sell leggings, but the other non-legging related items are honestly pretty amazing too! In case anyone was wondering I’m a consultant for SGL, so you may see more Fashion Friday posts based on that specific company!

POCKETSSSS! this dress is no longer available.

I was also never much of a girly girl growing up. More so these days I’ve really gotten myself into floral, brighter colours and other girly type fashion items. But seeing dresses with pockets are acceptable for both dressing them up and down.

These dresses are still available. They are a little see through, so I’d say they make a good cover up for when you go to the beach or sit by the pool. I own this one in black.

If you want to dress the outfits up a bit, simply do your hair nicely, put on some makeup, maybe wear heels or pair it with some nice jewellery.

This one kind of reminded me of Animal Crossing a little. Not so much of the pattern, but just the fact its a t-shirt dress. I also own this one and they are still available.

If you want to dress them down a little, you can wear more casual attire. Example simple flats, maybe you can even get away with casual sneaker type shoes, grey.. something not too out there.

This dress is not available anymore and I also own this one. Although out of the three posted in here that I do own, this one is my favourite. And because it’s much shorter you can wear black leggings or capris under it!

Do you own any dresses with pockets? If not…. What are you waiting for? If so.. how do you style your outfit? Would love to hear your fashion thoughts in the comments.

Tea Talk Tuesday #1

Welcome to my very first Tea Talk Tuesday!

Today I am having Strawberry flavoured Bubbly Tea, it is Sipology’s version of bubble tea. (Main difference is that actual bubble tea has tapioca and Sipology’s bubbly tea is basil seeds).

I personally don’t add any sweeteners to it, as Sipology’s tea is perfect to taste. I do however add Almond Milk to mine just to help make the cup look a little fuller, plus it brings extra flavour. You can also use any other plant based milk (coconut works if you want to try to mimic the “Pink Drink” from Starbucks.

I personally used to always be so big on David’s, but then with COVID the location that was closest to me ended up being permanently closed (so sad). Which then one day on Facebook there was an Autumn market and I some how came across my now Sipology consultant and have been addicted to their tea ever since. To be honest I am debating of becoming a Sipologist myself, making tea and mixing drinks makes me feel like I’m mixing potions LOL.

Is there a particular tea you’re looking forward to having tonight or a day this week?

Enough about the actual tea and on to the subject I actually wanted to talk about tonight, I have been working out for a few weeks now, been pretty committed, and the days I know I wont be doing a heavy workout, I try to go for a walk in the morning, so this way I know I will still be getting some sort of exercise in. It was a nice walk… honestly some times it takes a lot of strength for me to even decide to go for a walk alone, with how crazy things are in this world, COVID aside, Women have to worry about a lot of things, and growing up, I always used to get stopped by some guy on the street, and honestly hated it. WELL that kind of happened to me today. Some guy honked, smiled and did a kissy face… and honestly, it’s so disgusting.

I mean, I am lucky it was just that and nothing more, but I’ve been followed both when a guy was on foot or even when someone is in a car and with me walking. It’s not a good feeling and honestly makes me feel unsafe even when someone randomly decides to try to hit on me…. plus I have a Fiancé so, I don’t need anyone hitting on me that isn’t him anyway. If you’re a guy and you do this crap to Women, just do us a favour and don’t… we don’t like it. We mind our own business, we are in the moment and you just ruin it with shit like that. We don’t work out to get random peoples attention and to be hit on, we work out for ourselves, to better our life and our health.

As a Woman, have you ever experienced this when you’re alone and trying to enjoy some fresh air? As a guy, do you do this to Women or have you ever felt objectified by someone in public when you were trying to mind your own business doing your own thing? Feel free to share your stories in the comments. You’re not alone.
